A 12X16 ft Modern addition to a historical Mid Century American Cottage makes room for a Tulip tree in the yard.  The structure was set back to accommodate the roots of this tree.  A Japanese style rock garden surrounds the tree, honoring it, allowing it to take center stage.  With the core principles of Modernism, this project embraces its surroundings.  It is a poem to the Tulip Tree.
